interior of a small café /cocktail bar in a small town for a courageous client was an opportunity for a small design experiment. 35 sqm for huge things. After a great cooperation with the client, the result was a cosy interior in contemporary design. The main feature of the interior became a magenta ribbon like a structure consisting of the bar desk leading the eyes of the entering person to the bench in the corner to the ceiling creating the lightning above the bar and continue to the doors to the storage area.
The seating in the entrance area is high (bar like). To the left, there is a upholstered bench seating, which is sloping down to normal seating height. The bench upholstery is shaped into the triangle structure reflecting the magenta ribbon. This dominating geometry is soften by baroque like acrylic transparent chairs and atypical tables to enlarge the space feeling and make it more airy. We also use the mirrors behind the bar and on the back wall to support this feeling. The idea was also to reduce the metal use to minimum proving that modern doesn’t mean cold.
Intimacy, dark colours, indirect lightning, luxurious soft materials, patterns made pleasant stay for some coffee or a cocktail = satisfied client for whom we designed the logo “piccolocco” as well.
