Family house JH project is the beginning of new planned urban zone outside Adamovske Kochanovce village on agricultural plot. Entrance to the plot is from the west connected to the new street leading to the car canopy (2 parking places) and near the gabion wall fence to main door of the house. Bungalow is joined directly to north border of the plot so the wall of the house together with gabion fence create protection against the north wind and weather. This location of the house on the plot gives us more free space for the garden sloping in south sunny side and creates also smaller private garden dedicated to “night” part of the house (sleeping area) near the east border.
The house is opened to the south through the terrace embracing offered views. We decided to create something different than the typical bungalow requested by the clients – the whole pyramid like roof protrude the house perimeter 1,5 m. The roof overhang is sharp angled without gutters so the rain water drips directly to ground drainage around the house. This should create “rain curtains”. The roof is hanged over the south terrace to protect it from the summer sun so as the interior of the living space. We designed 2 holes into the roof over the terrace to bring the indirect light there and one hole above the atrium on the north side of the house. This green atrium is designed for venting, light distribution and there will be hot tub in the future. In the interior, the space is shaped by the roof as well and the ceiling is copying the slopes and planes of the roof so the main living space is “sacral” high and airy. Typical bungalow pyramid roof becomes the main design feature and in white colour it creates the whole architecture of the house.
